Course 1000   Life Coaching guides clients to find direction and balance in all aspects of their lives. After taking this course, which has no assumed knowledge and is suitable for anyone, participants will have a clear understanding of what Life Coaching is, and be able to use Life Coaching skills.

 

 

 

 

 

Approach

  The Life Coaching approach taught on this course is based  on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

  Tutor supported Flexible distance learning, with telephone tutorials

Course Study Time

60 hours (at average pace) plus additional reading and assignments.

Suggested Course Length

6/9 months -  at 2-3 hours per week (but you can study over a shorter or longer period if you wish, minimum course length -6 months, maximum -12 months)

Suitable for ANYONE. But the following may find it particularly useful: Counsellors, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Community Education workers, Youth Workers, Welfare Officers, Voluntary Workers, Occupational Health Advisers, Project Workers, Group Workers, Psychologists, HR Professionals, Teachers, Complementary and Alternative Therapists, and all who might use coaching in their work.

 Availability of courses

Courses can begin on the 1st or 15th of any month, provided you enrol 2-3 weeks in advance.

 Assessment

Satisfactory completion of four short-answer type assignments, one case study dialogue, and 3 book reviews give final course pass.

 Certification

Accreditation and Certification from Stress Education Services, and from Glasgow Caledonian University.

  • difference between coaching and counselling,
  • cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) approach to Life Coaching
  • listening and support skills,
  • suitable clients, typical clients,
  • structuring first and later sessions,
  • conducting a life audit and making up an action plan,
  • decision-making,
  • coaching for confidence,
  • coaching for stress,
  • coaching for assertiveness,
  • coaching for anger management,
  • difficulties in achieving goals,
  • motivating clients,
  • long and short-term planning,
  • when to refer on,
  • introduction to neuro-linguistic programming (NLP),
  • additional reading of own choice from suggested list.
